Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness and regret that I am emailing you today to inform you of the recent
passing of two of our members, Steve McCormick of MKD International Inc. and Marie Claude
of Turnstone Investigations.

Steve passed away earlier this month, a 24- year veteran of the Toronto Police Service and one
of the founding partners of MKD International Inc. Steve had served on the Board of the CPIO
as the Director of Ethics for several years. Steve was instrumental in the development of our
Code of Ethics. His passion and dedication to our profession was unwavering. He was respected
and admired by his peers in the Private Investigation Industry and Law Enforcement.

Marie passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in September. Marie had been a civil servant in
the Federal Government before entering into the private investigation industry. I first met
Marie when she was new to the industry and had the pleasure of working with her on several
cases. She was diligent and tenacious investigator who truly left “no stone unturned”. Marie
specialized in adoption/birth investigations and reunited numerous families. Marie was an
involved and engaged member in the CPIO, providing insight into improving the association.
Both Steve and Marie will be missed by all who knew them and the CPIO has lost two
exemplary members of the association and the Private Investigation profession.
