The Office of the Fire Marshall

A brief overview of Fire Investigations in Ontario.

Jim Kettles was employed as a police officer with Peel Regional Police for 36 years, from August 1984 to February 2021. During that time, he was assigned to uniform patrol, the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Robbery Bureau, the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau and the Special Victims Unit. Over the course of his policing career, Jim investigated well over 100 fires involving houses, commercial buildings, and vehicles. On retiring from Peel Regional Police in February 2021, Jim took a position as a fire investigator with the Office of the Fire Marshal where he has been for the past three years. This has allowed him to continue pursuing his passion for the investigative field, while engaging in the study of fire science. He resides with his wife and daughter in Niagara on the Lake.
