The Human Factor in Wrongful Convictions

Presented by Stéphanie Nowak of Innocence Canada

Presented by Stéphanie Nowak of Innocence Canada, this session will show how the criminal justice system is just that, a system, and no system that is run by people is infallible. We will dive into a few of the causes of wrongful conviction, and the people behind an unjust conviction. You’ll hear about a few cases of wrongful conviction, and the work Innocence Canada does to exonerate innocence people. Finally, we will discuss how a wrongful conviction impacts the lives of accused, their families, and society.
